The high volume of shoppers and diners warranted a refresh of the store’s existing décor and layout, as it was dark and dated. Starting with visual positioning exercises, ArtHouse was able to pinpoint what makes this feel like a neighborhood store, informed by what the locals love and value about their community. ArtHouse took inspiration from Whole Foods’ focus on organic, local and sustainable food and approached the redesign with a fresh, upbeat color palette. Natural materials add a relaxed, welcoming touch, while icons evoke the area’s natural influences. ArtHouse’s a multi-layered approach to designing the décor mimics the sense of discovery that shoppers experience and the care Whole Foods shows for its customers as well as its quality of products.
