Ride Apartments is a distinctive, creative live/work community in the heart of Denver’s booming RiNo Arts District. ArtHouse imbued the property with a street-art inspired brand and unique materials for a welcoming, urban flair. In an ongoing collaboration with McWhinney, ArtHouse developed an iconic, hand-drawn logo and identity for this unique micro-housing project along the newly reimagined Brighton Boulevard corridor. Taking inspiration from the neighborhood’s famous murals and street art, ArtHouse sought to balance the industrial and urban influences of the area with warmer, inviting touches to create a unique sense of place that is both on trend and homey.
By using atypical materials such as fluorescent light tubes to create an eye-catching projecting sign or concrete for room and unit identification signage, ArtHouse was able to establish an uncommon, but effective palette of materials to help define the sense of place for the property. Ride’s emphasis on providing housing for artists and local creatives required unique approaches that stitch together public and private amenities while creating a sense of community for its residents. Public art is featured throughout the building and signage and wayfinding elements were designed to complement the spirit and vitality of both the interior spaces and greater neighborhood.
