ArtHouse Design principal, Marty Gregg recently spoke at SEGD Denver's (Society for Experiential Graphic Design) Digital by Design event as part of an expert panel of professionals who work in the fields of environmental and experiential graphic design. The event centered on best practices for implementing digital signage programs and featured speakers who's expertise ranged from design to fabrication to providing content. Marty joined Jim Zazenski, president of Boyd Sign Systems and David Levin, president and CEO of Four Winds Interactive, each providing their unique point of view and associated best practices. ArtHouse senior designer and SEGD Denver chapter chair Zach Kotel emceed the event and led the panel discussion, as well as the audience question and answer period. As part of his presentation, Marty discussed how important it is to consider the holistic, functional and aesthetic goals of a project through collaboration to ensure that every discipline involved in implementing a digital signage program is effective in providing creative solutions. Marty shared a case study of ArtHouse's work with the Downtown Denver Partnership, starting with the 14th Street Redevelopment and eventually leading to the design and implementation of the IKE Interactive Kiosks on the 16th Street Mall. Through careful consideration of branding, signage design, wayfinding and content management, these projects were able to seamlessly and elegantly incorporate digital signage into the overall package for maximum impact. ArtHouse is always thrilled to have the opportunity to share our expertise with both local and national organizations such as SEGD and we were excited to see over seventy people attend this event, enjoy drinks and snacks and learn a little more about the fascinating, dynamic and evolving fields of environmental and experiential graphic design.
